What is ProtoStax?

You have your breadboarded prototype working nicely. Before you toss that into a corner, never to see the light of day again, ask yourself - How do you go from that to an attractive prototype that you can use, demonstrate, and show off? A finished, usable project also greatly improves your satisfaction quotient and interest in moving on to the next and more advanced project!

This requires several hurdles to be crossed. Designing your own enclosure, 3D printing it or fabricating it from existing material, or even using an existing project box and shoving everything in there - all of it is cumbersome and offers an extra barrier towards making a functional project.

We make it easier for you to bridge this chasm with our modular, extensible and stackable enclosures. You can start with using just the base as a prototyping plate. Assembly later is very easy due to its modular design. We also have different peripheral options included like LCD screens, buttons, camera mounts, tripod mounts that help make your prototype more real-world and interact-able.

    Use it as a Prototyping Platform

    When you begin prototyping, use it as a prototyping plate in what we call Platform Configuration which firmly mounts your board to the bottom plate, giving you ultimate access to the board. Removable rubber feet will help protect your table or surface as well, and elevate the board!

    Use it as an Open Enclosure

    Leave out the Side walls and just add the Top plate for an Open Configuration with more airflow and open access. This is useful when you want protection from grubby fingers while still having accessibility and good airflow – useful for the Raspberry Pi 4 that’s churning away on bitcoin mining!

    Use it as a Fully Closed Enclosure

Add Functionality with Extension Kits and Add-Ons

Projects often need peripherals like display screens, buttons, fans, sensors and the like. Often, that involves designing the peripheral layout yourself, drilling and cutting holes (which is difficult for square or rectangular components), or 3D printing custom enclosures and jigs. With ProtoStax Extension Kits and Add-Ons, we make it easier for you to integrate these peripherals into your next project.

Add a splash of personality to your enclosures/cases with our Decorative Tops!

Our Decorative Tops display painstakingly laser etched details that showcase the artwork on a black background for contrast. The etching is done on the underside (and mirrored), so it is protected from grubby fingers and scratches and also gives some depth and an embossed effect.

You can add your own personalization by in-filling the laser-etched regions with your favorite acrylic paint for a nice pop of color - we'll show you how!
